White coating

If you have parts of your tongue covered in a white substance, it could be oral thrush which is yeast that occurs in the oral cavity. Your tongue should be a shade of pink. If you try brushing your tongue (which you should be doing every time you brush your teeth) and it goes away, great!

White patches

If you see white patches on your tongue, it could be a condition called Leukoplakia, which is when the tongue becomes irritated by things like smoking or tobacco use. So quit smoking if you have these white patches. However we do recommend booking a dentist appointment to get these checked out just in case.
