Rugby-Loving Children Urged To Protect Their Teeth And Gums!

A health charity has warned that children could be faced with trying times if parents don’t make sure their kids wear mouthguards this Rugby World Cup, as oval fever continues to sweep across England.
With the 2015 tournament well underway and hopes of a home nation triumph starting to build, thousands have kids have been getting in on the action and playing at school and on their local fields at the weekend.
But if your child is hoping to be the next Jonny Wilkinson, it may be a good idea to make sure their gums are properly protected from a bone-crunching tackle.
According to the British Dental Health Foundation, only a third of kids they surveyed were wearing mouthguards whilst playing rugby. And this could be very bad news for their dental health!
The Foundation has warned that there is “a lack of knowledge when it comes to the potential dangers to dental health that children have on the rugby pitch,” and they believe that “not wearing a mouthguard can result in cracked or even knocked out (avulsed) teeth”.
And this could lead to severe pain and a lifetime of extensive and possibly very expensive treatment!
The national charity, aptly based in Rugby, Warwickshire, reportedly said that an effective and properly fitted mouthguard could cost around £40 – £50 and made to order from any good dentist.
A relatively small amount of money when you consider not wearing one could lead to a lifetime of dental work and the expense that comes with it.

When you see England run out on that pitch, every single one of them will be wearing a mouthguard – they’d be very brave and silly not too! Having a mouthguard in a kit bag at any level should be a must.”
So there you have it, folks. We all take our teeth and gums for granted, but it’s only when we’re faced with losing one do we realise how essential they really are! COME ON ENGLAND!
